Death or Glory is a site-specific installation shown at Redaktion_957 in Lucerne, CH in 2023. The installation deals with themes such as individuality, art and music influences, and death. Metaphors used to translate artistically these themes were the Greek myth of the Hydra and the urban myth of Club 27. The installation is of cryptic and narrative nature.

EINLEITUNG
Es nieselt leicht und ich überquere den grauen Vorhof zum _957. Mein Schädel dröhnt noch von zu viel Alkohol, schlechten Designerdrogen und wirren Gesprächen mit semi- psychotischen Choleriker im Refugium. Ich öffne die schwere Schiebetüre und trete ein. Blaue Schlangenkörper winden sich am Boden und in der Ecke erblicke ich ein von Flimmerhärchen übersäter Stuhl. Die vielen Abdeckplanen geben dem ganzen einen Touch von „Witheroom für Serienmörder“. Psychosis inducing hyper virus in membranes. Ein in schwarz gekleideter Mario mit Kappe schlurft um die Ecke und grinst mich an. Er begrüsst mich herzlich und gibt mir eine Tour. Stuhl, Video, Gitarre dann Schlange.

I GOT A RIGHT [2023]
Mario: Das ist das kleine selbst. Es will sich isolieren von allen Einflüssen, Verbindungen und Referenzen.
János: Scheint mir unmöglich.
Mario: Genau.

Die Hyper-Überladung unserer postmodernen Welt akzeleriert sich in eine planlos chaotische Vermischung aller Kategorien und
Strömungen. Die unmögliche Flucht vor den grabschenden immer
präsenten Tentakeln der cybermedial memetischen Viren und Persönlichkeiten drängt das Individuum zu zwei möglichen

Reaktionen:

1. Rückzug in die eigene isolierte Ur-Membrane. Die versteinernde Selbstsedierung vor dem transformierenden Sog der Wogen - durch die Wogen.
2. Die Aufgabe des kleinen selbst. Der Schritt in den Sturm und die Suche zum stillen Auge im Zentrum. The right to move.

THROWING IDOLS AT A UNICORN [2023]
János: Das ist gnadenlos.
Mario: Die Wahrheit ist immer gnadenlos.
Die Realität erschlägt das Individuum mit den eigenen
Illusionen. Die Realisation der Abhängigkeit und
unzertrennbaren Verbindung mit dem Vergangenen. Der
Irrtum der Authentizität nach dem wohl grössten und authentischsten Idol der 90er, Kurt Cobain: „I use bits and pieces of others personalities to form my own.“
The idols steal the idols steal the idols. Where is the original? Are we already trapped in a slug of violently self-propagating simulacra? Or was the unicorn always an unattainable dream smeared with the past desires of its secret idols?

János: Authentizität ist also ein Illusion...
Mario: Ja und es ist paradox. Individueller Ausdruck kann nie isoliert bestehen.
János: Ich glaube es ist nur paradox wenn man sich selbst von der Gesamtheit ausklammert.

If you cut one head of the hydra, two grow back. The past songs and stories of humanity are petrified in ever locked fossilized flowers. As the snake-haired head of Medusa they paralyze further progression of libidinous expansion into infinite hyperspace. How can we redeem the sins of the past and transform them into new glory? Or maybe... glory through death? The satanic sacrifice.
Yes. Kill the small self. Let the stories of Maya be stories of Maya. Step into the the big Self. Ever expanding and unifying with no end and beginning. Every unique soul expression is always bound to all of histories pro- and regressions: Damnation and Forgiveness. Death and Glory. Its no burden but only a test.
