"Rockin' Soya

It's a big sip of soy to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll!

Mx Eye grew up in a mad southern town in Italy.
They go back there from time to time to see their parents.
One summer, Mx Eye were cruising in their parent's white Fiat,
listening to the best rock 'n' roll station ever, Virgin Radio,
and sipping an average drink of soy milk.
When out of the blue, Mx Eye started to hallucinate.
Standing on the side of the road was none other than Janis Joplin
holding a pink bottle of soy milk in her hand and singing:
"I got the Rockin' Soya Blues,
Oooh, Lord, I got the Rockin' Soya Blues..."
When glancing at Janis, Mx Eye lost control of the white Fiat
and crashed into an olive tree.
They bounced out of the car before the white Fiat caught fire.
On the arid earth close to the olive tree on fire too, a blessing,
Mx Eye found a soya bean with these words carved on it :

Rich in Distortion
No added Autotune
100% Soy not Pop

So the first Soy Milk for Rockers was envisioned, and it's been rockin' ever since!"

The work was shown at DETROIT STOCKHOLM, Stockholm, SE, in the exhibition "HEMMA", in 2023.

"HEMMA" was a collective exhibition featuring five international artists that reflect on the concept of control, comfort, spatiality and location. This exhibition aims to raise diverse viewpoints and experimental art-making practices, as well as inviting a cultural dialogue outside our usual points of reference. The title of the exhibition is formed from the initials of every exhibiting artist's first name: Hinni, Eliska, Malin, Mario and Anouk. The title is also a word in Swedish that translates to home as well as at home.
